At astley, we work hard to identify more sustainable ways of working to minimising our impact on the world around us. This means reducing our carbon footprint through responsible business practices while also fostering a positive, ethical, and fair environment for our employees and partners.
From sourcing materials to manufacturing and installation, we prioritise sustainability at every stage, ensuring we operate with integrity and care for both people and the planet
astley is proud to be one of only a handful of UK signmakers to already be collecting Scopes 1, 2 and 3 (grey fleet) as part of our net zero journey.
Key activities include sustainable procurement, staff training and awareness, equipment and machinery maintenance and updates, integration of new energy solutions where feasible and collaboration with our supply chain.
With short, medium and long term targets to help drive our strategy, weâre proud to say we are committed to proactively reducing our carbon footprint at every opportunity.
We recognise that our clients are also working towards sustainable targets
Thatâs why we provide expert consultancy from the outset, helping our clients review how the translation of their brand into a physical space can be achieved more sustainably and efficiently.
Our design and procurement teams are highly experienced in specifying assets that incorporate recycled and recyclable materialsâwithout compromising on aesthetic impact. They also identify opportunities to reuse existing structures, such as recladding totems, and expertly guide clients through the value engineering process to ensure the final product not only looks great, but contributes meaningfully to the wider sustainability conversation
astley was also one of the first UK signmakers to become a zero-waste-to-landfill partner, ensuring that a client’s redundant signage is converted to energy or is recycled.
As astley is also one of the first within the industry to publicise a commitment to achieving net zero by 2040, we support clients by being able to provide them with our carbon data so that this can be captured in their own Scope 3 reporting.
astley offers expert design consultancy on a client’s move to using more sustainably sourced/manufactured materials within their signage families. We’ve won awards for this very type of design development service!
We work closely with our supply chain to understand the eco-credentials for materials. This could be materials manufactured using recycled substrates and/or using new energy within their manufacture or it could be materials that are recyclable. Our procurement department can work closely with the client and designers to help develop a scheme that answers sustainability objectives.
We routinely performance-test new market introductions to support growth in this sector – evaluating our own impact to enhance consumer choice and help clients explore more sustainable material options.
