London Designer Outlet

Enhancing an iconic retail venue

Creating a experiential retail destination in the capital

Astley was thrilled to be part of the delivery of the London Designer Outlet, the capital’s first designer outlet destination. Located in the heart of Wembley Park, this vibrant centre features over 70 retailers, 15 eateries, and a Cineworld cinema, serving as a key part of a major Retail & Leisure Sector development by Quintain.

Working alongside property developers Quintain, main contractor John Sisk, and architects Leslie Jones Associates, we helped to deliver a suite of signage and wayfinding solutions to support this landmark retail development.

We continue to support them with a range of signage and wayfinding solutions.

The requirement

The main challenge for this site was and still is the access – many of the signs are installed at height in a busy development with tight timelines. To meet the launch deadline for the LDO branding project, our specialist abseil installation teams worked out-of-hours, successfully installing 30 signs in just two weeks.

Our expert project team understand the logistics of arranging complex installations, organising crews on site to attend out of hours to minimise disruption to visitors and to ensure that operations can return to ‘business as usual’ as fast as possible.

Our solution

Our work begins with design, manufacture and then installation on site and often at high-level rooftop locations, applying various signs such as halo-illuminated lettering, ensuring the site is visible well beyond its immediate catchment area.

Initially we helped develop a full wayfinding system using reverse-decorated toughened glass totems, suspended signs, and wall-mounted displays – styled to reflect the development’s vibrant brand identity and integrate seamlessly with the wider Wembley Park signage scheme.

Following the outlet’s launch, we were commissioned by Quintain to further enhance the wayfinding offer across Wembley Park, uniting several brand elements and reinforcing the development’s visitor experience. These enhancements were developed, visualised, manufactured and installed ahead of official launch events, showcasing our reliability and creative capacity on large-scale placemaking projects.
