Hilton Hotels

Branding a trusted international hospitality chain

Supporting them with branding expertise for over 25 years

From concept to nationwide rollout

In their 1999 rebrand, Hilton invited a selected group of proven signage manufacturers to develop proposals for their updated identity, with a specific challenge: illuminated lettering that appeared blue by day and white by night. While others had struggled, astley’s prototypes proved so effective that we were commissioned to deliver a full pilot scheme at their London Heathrow Hotel.

This success led to a broader scope of work, including signage audits across Hilton’s UK estate, planning applications, technical development, and final implementation. Over 8 months, our team designed, manufactured, and installed signage at 82 Hilton Hotels, ranging from individual internally-illuminated letters to monoliths, remote directional signs, and stainless-steel fascia signage.

We continue to support Hilton with their estate branding requirements, now also involved in the signage for their sub-brands: DoubleTree, LXR, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton by Hilton and Hilton Grand Vacations.

The requirement

Hospitality brands such as Hilton continue to work within a highly competitive sector, working hard to create experience-based spaces and immersive environments for their visitors. Ensuring their hotels offer memorable experiences is a key objective however since the pandemic, they have a heightened requirement to create environments that can be trusted and experience-based.

Signposting the location from far and wide through the careful and strategic placement of external signage is also essential in starting off a successful and seamless customer journey to the hotel.

BS EN 1090 fabrication

Hotel signage isn’t just about aesthetics – it’s structural, safety-critical, and often installed in public spaces. BS EN 1090 is the UK and EU standard for the fabrication of structural steel and aluminium components, ensuring they meet strict safety, quality, and traceability requirements. For hotel brands such as Hilton, working with a signage partner holding BS EN 1090 certification guarantees that all structural elements – such as large external signs, freestanding totems, and rooftop branding – are designed, manufactured, and installed to legally compliant standards. It reduces risk, ensures durability, and protects both guests and brand reputation, while demonstrating a commitment to the highest levels of professionalism and regulatory compliance.
