Surveys & Audits

Capturing accurate site data is key to successful branding. With a UK-wide network of surveyors and engineers, Astley ensures every project starts with the right insight.

Conducting surveys to identify key site characteristics at the outset is always advisable

Our experienced team are highly knowledgeable in carrying out this vital part of a branding project

Our surveyors understand what to look out for and can best prepare stakeholders about what to expect on the day of installation. Their surveys also advise our in-house design team or the client’s own team on what opportunities there are for signage at the site. It’s critical to capture details of measurements, condition of surfaces and identify access available for installation.

Audits to establish what signage is currently in use at a site and to capture key characteristics such as measurements and condition can also prove useful for the client, to help build a database to refer to. Our team is happy to collate this information and share on a cloud-based portal or respond with an audit report.

Once a comprehensive survey has been captured, our design team can then draw up the positioning of assets at specific locations to allow all stakeholders oversight of final implementation points.

Our process

01

Site visit

Our surveyors will arrange a suitable time with the client or the relevant site manager for our surveyor to attend the site. Our surveys are full accredited to attend and survey sites including those considered as hazardous (eg. Petroleum forecourts).

02

Conduct survey

Our survey team will ensure to book in using the appropriate client-led process before starting the survey. Depending on the type of requirement, volume of signs and scope of work, surveys can take anything from 1 hour to a full week to complete.

03

Testing and measurements

Surveyors will take photographs and measurements. They may perform a ‘pull test’ to establish the condition of any surfaces that signs are to be fixed to. It’s important to advise the client should surfaces not be suitable. They will also look for potential obstacles / hazards that may hinder a smooth installation.

04

Reporting

Information from the survey and/or audit is prepared in a report and shared with all relevant stakeholders. Client will be given access to photographs should they wish. We also offer an enhanced service, allowing clients access to an online portal where survey information can be easily accessed and reviewed.

FAQs

Do I really need a survey or can you make an educated guess?

We believe that a survey is essential so that all teams (including the client’s) are best equipped with unique site information to prevent any risk to the programme of work. If measurements aren’t captured or type of access available isn’t established, signs can be specified incorrectly or installation can be hindered. The greater the risk, the greater the potential for expected costs and delay to a timeline.

Can I complete a survey using my own team?

We are happy to work with a survey supplied by the client however would need to understand what detail will be captured. Should you feel your team are capable of carrying out a survey, please discuss this at the outset of your project.

I have historic information on file - can we use this?

We can potentially work with historic survey information a client already holds.
