Concept store design development

Trying something new requires an expert partner, and we were happy to lend a hand.

Helping brands develop their look

When a brand wants to try something new but don’t know where to start, we are often the ideal partners to help get a concept translated into an amazing space.

As part of a competitive tender process, astley was privileged to secure a partnership with Amazon for the fulfilment of the signage and brand graphics for their first 4Star stores in
the UK. Although a format already in use in the USA, these were the first stores in the UK and required a level of consultancy at the outset to help establish the brand rules for implementation.

Concept development and consultancy

Our in-house design team were keen to collaborate with the stakeholders at Amazon to build a brand identity that worked but that was also sustainable. For the store at Bluewater Shopping Centre, there was an initial proposal to use wooden cladding for the fascia. Our procurement team and designers helped develop an alternative which used 3M DI-NOC architectural film which offered excellent durability compared to traditional surface materials and was quick and easy to install with less downtime, noise and disruption for the local area. 3M DI-NOC’s sustainability is also enhanced by its use of recycled materials and ability to renovate existing surfaces, meaning that any refreshes could be carried out to the existing fixtures rather than having to replace them.

Sustainability inside and out

Amazon were also keen to integrate more sustainable sourced/manufactured materials into their final scheme. Our team were happy to sample the performance of proposed materials such as Ultraboard to create internal POS, enabling the client and stakeholders to review the look and feel before deciding whether the aesthetic would be suitable within the final designs.
