Hiab/HGV 2 driver

Astley is an award winning UK Company, providing complete signage and graphics solutions from concept design, through to final installation. We are currently looking to recruit experienced Team Leaders for our Metalwork department in Gateshead, producing high quality bespoke signage for leading brands in the UK. The purpose of this role is to work as part of a 2 man crew Hiab Team covering the delivery and installation of signage throughout the UK and Northern Ireland, based at our head office and central manufacturing site in Gateshead. You will support the lead installer in driving and whilst on site support the installation by acting as a banksman, understanding, and following the installation and lift plan. Regular UK wide travel and overnight stays required to support the wider teams.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Daily vehicle checks and accurate defect reporting
  • Ensure vehicle maintenance requirements are followed
  • Planning your route on a daily or weekly basis
  • Loading and securing loads
  • Keeping the installation and site teams up to date on delivery times
  • Always comply with on-site health and safety requirements
  • Ensure safe operation of the vehicle and crane
  • Ensure the safe loading/unloading of deliveries
  • Ensure good customer service on Client sites
  • Ensure compliance with all HGV driving rules
  • To be available for work outside standard hours in line with client requirements with the ability to travel nationally on a regular basis.

Any other duties as reasonably requested by management to assist the operation of the business.

Key Competencies

  • A valid LGV (C) UK Driving Licence
  • HIAB Licence preferably, however training can be provided
  • A valid UK Driver CPC Card
  • A valid UK Digital Tachograph Card
  • A Proven track record of driving vehicles in a safe and legal manner ensuring compliance with all legal requirements
  • MUST be able to work as part of a team
  • MUST display strong communication skills
  • MUST be able to understand details of a Lift Plan/s
