We were thrilled to be involved in the design phase for the Co-op's new regional distribution depot in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, which then followed on to the manufacture and installation on site.

Our in-house designers are passionate how how a brand translates into a physical space, and as we support this client with their retail signage across the UK, they were keen to also lend their creative skills to this impressive development.

Creating a successful wayfinding scheme is very much based on identifying the flow of movement around a site, and identifying key touchpoint locations to position navigational messaging. Our design team visited the site with the client and walked the routes around to fully understand how visitors would experience the location, before they began planning the strategy.

As part of this strategy they gained valuable insight about the project through research, audits and surveys, evaluating the customer journey and environmental factors that influence traffic flow around a site.

Our teams worked closely with the internal Co-op team to develop a highly effective and custom signage family for the wayfinding assets, which included accessibility features such as the use of braille on assets.

The Co-op took the opportunity to name their meeting and training rooms with the names of famous celebrities and political figures, which allowed our design teams to create mini biographies as part of the ambient design.

There were several feature walls that allowed the team to introduce graphic elements, key messaging and create an identity for the office and communal areas.
